SUPERLAP CRUISE

In just under a month Oran Park will play host to the most exciting new race series ever to hit our shores. Superlap kicks off on July 5th and if you haven’t already seen the competitors’ list, you’re in for a nice surprise. The Hi Octane GT-Rs will be there, with Mark Berry hoping to cement his place as the first Superlap champion. But he will have some tough competition in Open Class because all the big hitters are entered. If you haven’t checked out the competitor list yet, click here

There are only a handful of entry places left, so if you want to see how your car really performs then you’d better be quick. And don’t stress if you don’t have a mega-buck machine, the Clubsprint Class is there for street-registered vehicles. Hell, even we’ll be running around in Project 15. So if you think you can steer, then step up to the plate and jump into Clubsprint Class. To check out who has already entered click here

But Superlap isn’t just for the competitors. There’s plenty of off-track entertainment for spectators, including a massive show and shine and a bikini comp to find miss Superlap.
There’s also a huge cruise being organised to the event. All participants to the cruise will receive discounted entry into Superlap, and a showbag. So get your mates together and show up to Superlap in style! The cruise leaves from P6 at Homebush Olympic Park. Be there at 8:30 to leave P6 at 9am. See you guys there!

WHAT'S INSIDE THE 2008 ANNUAL ISSUE?

FAT CHANCE!
It’s been a while since we’ve had a MK1 Escort on the cover. And if any Esky deserves pride of place in Fast Fours, it’s David Hamilton’s orange beast. Not only is it damn wide, with in-your-face flares and styling, but it’s tough. FJ20ET tough! And with 285kW at the rears, you better believe it’s quick too.

CROUCHING 716ERR
There are a lot of ways to build an S15. But one look at 716ERR and you know that it’s been done right. Subtle styling and a 273kW kick to boot!

JAPANESE JOB
When we spotted this Mini in the elite hall down at Summernats, we almost fell over. It’s spotless, and a look in the ‘bay reveals an immaculately detailed Starlet turbo donk.

EVO KILLER
When your workshop has an Evo running 9sec passes, what’s left to do? Build a 700hp WRX that can take it to your other race car is one thing.

HARD TUNED
There’s nothing cooler than old-school JDM. And Wade Mengel’s Datto 1200 is the best example that we’ve come across. It’s got to be seen to be believed.

KNIGHT RIDERS
Legendary rotary tuner, Knight Sports, has been the main ingredient in a lot of the best rotaries. And this supercharged RX-8 and FD RX-7 are no exception.

BAKER'S DELIGHT
If you’re looking for balls-out hardcore Civics, then look no further. This EG Civic is packed to the brim with 289kW of goodness.

PROFESSIONAL HIT
500 horses at the rears all working together to do one thing; haul this RX-2 down the quarter. The fact that it’s mint makes us love it more.

TRUE TICKSTER
Sure, this MR2 looks pretty stock, but with 276kW at 24psi there’s no doubt this thing could fool a lot of posers out there.

LIGHT WEIGHT AUDIO SOLUTIONS
Ok, so you’ve built yourself a track car and but still want some creature comforts, like a stereo. Then check out our in-depth look at lightweight systems.

BUILD A DRIFT CAR FOR $15K!
Yep, you read right. We had a bet running in the Fast Fours office that you could build a drift car for less than 15 grand. Looks like we won!

AND THERE’S MORE

@ ALL FOURS

When EvolutionOz got together for a dyno day, Fast Fours just had to go along for a look.

DRIVE BUY

Make sure you don't get ripped off when buying your ride.

THE POWER AND THE THRASHIN’

Powercruise is a great excuse to get out and smoke up your rear bags, and all the action from Sydney is in here.

STI-C

Everything you’ll ever need to know about dog boxes, and probably more than you need to.

NEWS

With Superlap just around the corner we’ve been working frantically to get Project 15 ready to race. As mentioned in the last newsletter, Tweakit Performance in Mona Vale (www.tweakit.net) was chosen to be the base for our preparation. Tweakit’s proven track record of turning out tough track cars was clearly cemented when the Tweakit-prepared RX-3 took out the Shannons Classic Class at Targa Tasmania this year, for the second year running. So what’s been done to the S15 to get it ready? Because we’ve had such limited time to get things rolling the story so far revolves around the stopping, handling and grip. There are also a few engine mods, but our focus has been keeping the contact patch of the Yokohama Advan Sports working hard.

Keep reading Fast Fours for monthly updates on Project 15. And don’t forget to come and check out how it perfor
ms at Superlap on July 5th. We’ll have it on display in the pit garage, so come and say G’day.
