For the NSW residents amongst us,
The RTA's new mobile speed cameras went online as of today
you can check out the potential locations here so make sure your always keeping a eye on the Speedo
The camera cars are all unmarked white Ford Territories, and many motorists have expressed concerns that the new cameras will be used primarily as a revenue raising tool due to the fact that they are being run by a private firm.
More information is available from the car advice Website here
"With revenue from fixed speed cameras dropping by $4m in the last budget year, the NSW government it poised to earn as much as $570m by 2012 (up from $219m in 2009) as a result of these new mobile speed cameras being used"
Ouch, i hope they’re going to be using some of that money to improve road safety.
What do you think the RTA should use the new revenue for?
