Car Enthusiasts in Canberra Rock
One thing I learned on my trip to Canberra is that car enthusiasts in Canberra are definitely not afraid of a little water. Introduce a little bit of wetness to a meet in Sydney and you can expect disaster, however not in Canberra.

As Fonzy and I arrived, we were warmly greeted by a group from the Toymods forums and Canberra Celica Group. Now these are some keen car guys. Here I am struggling with my umbrella making sure that I'm not drowning in the weather, and some of these guys strut around without any waterproof covering.
More over the fold, pictures and words, don't be shy

We witness Toyota after Toyota rock up (on time mind you!) and everyone is acquainted. These guys really are like one big happy family. Makes me wish I owned a Toyota. You can see from this photo that there aren't many umbrellas going around but these guys are barely phased. I don't know if it's a Toyota thing because I noticed Fonzy (Third from the left) wasn't packing a brolli or raincoat either. This was our first meet point before heading off to Ultimate Tunes to join the Show 'n' Shine and Dyno comp.

Arriving at Ultimate Tunes, I discover that it's not just the Toyota guys that come out rain, hail or shine. The turnout was mightily impressive considering! It must be a Canberrian thing. These guys are nuts, heading out for a Show 'n' Shine and Dyno comp in the wet. We're not talking about pitter-pitter-patter either, at some points it was gushing.

Here's the shopfront to Ultimate Tunes, run by the Tozzis, they were busily at work setting up a tarp so people could stay dry under. We cover one of their track days in the next issue of Fast Fours & Rotaries, keep your head s up for it!

With the tarp up, there was some dry space for people to gather and convene. From here the dyno comp could be observed in dry convenience. There was a really cool dynamic going on as people made their way back and forth from the show 'n' shine and dyno comp.
Yep, these guys definitely don't shy away from some wet weather. As much as I fought to stay dry, my socks were soaked before the day began. Congratulations Canberra, you win the award for dedication. Special thanks to the guys at Toymods and Canberra Celica Group for the warm welcoming.
